In the late 1980’s, a small glass scene developed in the great northwest. With less than a dozen borosilicate colors being pulled by Paul Trautman at Northstar color company, a small selection of torches, a handful of crude hand tools, and limited experience or knowledge of lamp working….. it blossomed into what we know it to be in today’s world. In the summer of 1988, Aim kilns released the first prototype showcasing a medium sized kiln with “doggy doors” giving artists access to a hot  kiln with guillotine style door while allowing their points or blow-tubes to stay cool to the touch. This model was named the 9169 GS and the first of it’s kind. While the prototype was rough around the edges, it was quickly tested and refined by the likes of guys like Bob Snodgrass, Bob Batrum, Jason Lee, Cameron Tower, Hugh, Ezra, Kameron Gray, and a short list of a few more. Without the culture they created, the process would have been delayed and far different. Aim kilns was proud to be a part of movement and over three decades later, we’ve reworked that classic staple and called it the P-91.

The P-91 is a doublewide version of our 99LS or P-9, and allows for plenty of floor space for larger work or multiple artists to have enough room to work out of the same kiln. While it’s the same size as it’s predecessor, it’s gone through some serious changes including our newly engineered door style and some cosmetic changes giving it a fresh new look. Like many of the other models in our Professional Lamp Working Series, this model focuses on leading the pack in technicality, efficiency, dependability, durability, and value.
